Rose in Black & White

Another one from shooting around the neighborhood.  I really feel that black and white brings out the detail and texture of the rose’s petals.  What do you think?

Photographed with my  Nikon D3x and my still ever reliable Nikon 200-400mm VR II f/4, a truly amazing setup.

Wind Farm in Spring

I haven’t been able to upload any photos or do too much here on my blog due to this week’s move to Southern California… So, without further ado…Here’s one from last spring… when rain and snow fell over Northern California.

California Wind Farm in Spring

California Wind Farm in Spring

This photograph was created with my (then) trusty Nikon D700, sold late last year, but still an amazing Nikon DSLR body, and my ever trusty Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR Lens.

I always go on about the importance of using a good tripod, and this photograph was no exception.  The above mentioned Nikon D700 body, and 70-200mm f/2.8 VR Lens, were held still by my always used Gitzo GT3531 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod, topped off with a Really Right BH-55 Ballhead.  When you need to take a clear, in focus shot (you ALWAYS need to take clear and in-focus shots, just FYI), you can’t beat that ballhead and tripod combination.

I was digging through the archives and found this… from a few years back.  Monocrhome Lily.

Photographed with my old Nikon D200 and my still ever reliable Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8.  That lens has always been a truly amazing lens.

Sunrise on Mesquite Dunes – Death Valley, NP

More wonderful golden light. This time on Mesquite Dunes.

Golden Dune – Death Valley, NP

I was able to caputure the golden light on the dune just as the sun was rising.  I like the contrast of the wind ridges in the foreground to the smoothness of the tall dune in the background.

Photographed during preparations for my Death Valley Spring Photo Workshop,  with my Nikon D3x, and my Nikon Super Wide Angle AF-S Zoom Nikkor 17-35mm f/2.8D ED-IF Autofocus Lens.

Corkscrew Peak, Death Valley, NP

The shape of Corkscrew peak, located between Death Valley National Park and Beatty, NV, really intrigued me.  While doing reconnaissance for my Death Valley Spring Photo Workshop, I was lucky enough to have a cloudy morning after a light snowfall the night before, resulting in just a dusting of snow on the peak and great cloud formations.

Photographed with my Nikon D3x, and my Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR Lens.
