Rose in Black & White

Another one from shooting around the neighborhood.  I really feel that black and white brings out the detail and texture of the rose’s petals.  What do you think?

Photographed with my  Nikon D3x and my still ever reliable Nikon 200-400mm VR II f/4, a truly amazing setup.

Bougainvillea

Living in Southern California, I’m seeing a lot of a plant I didn’t see much of in Northern California, Bougainvillea.  They come in many different colors.  Here’s a link to an article about bougainvillea on Wikipedia.

Here’s one from this morning, taken in the garden. Photographed with my  Nikon D3x and my still ever reliable Nikon 200-400mm VR II f/4, a truly amazing setup.

Storm over Conifers – Stateline, NV

I’ve driven by the meadow many times since returning to Lake Tahoe in October 2011.  I’ve wanted to capture the trees and their shadows on the snow surrounding them.

However, the clouds and storms this day provided something else.  For me drama in my photographs (not personal life) is very important… and the clouds above these trees screams drama.

Clouds over Conifers

Instead of shooting with a “traditional” landscape lens, I shot this with my 70-200mm f/2.8, and I like the results.
