First Light on the Tetons

Here’s one from the workshop.  Last sunset of my Grand Tetons Photography Workshop.

Sunset at Snake River Overlook

This was probably the most beautiful and most difficult sunset I’ve yet to photograph at the famous Snake River Overlook in Grand Teton NP.  For this shot, I used an 8 second exposure at f/20.  My filters included a 4-stop ND and a circular polarizer on the lens and a 3-stop ND grad and a 4-stop ND grad hand-held.  Photographed will preparing for my Grand Tetons Photo Workshop in June.

I’d love to hear your thoughts and comments.

Bear Notch Creek – New Hampshire

I photographed with image while doing reconnaissance for last year’s my New Hampshire Fall Colors Workshop. Bear Notch Road is off the beaten path and is just georgous. I did a fair amount of poking around and found the beautiful little creek.

Hardwood Forest – Michigan

I feel that this image is a good representation of leading lines, geometric shapes, and light-to-dark transitions in an image.  While there isn’t a particular object/subject for the viewer’s eye to “land” in the image, it still draws the viewer in and captivates the imagination.

I photographed this image early last October using my Nikon D3x and my ever reliable Nikon 28-70 f/2.8 standard zoom lens.  The AF-S Zoom-NIKKOR
28-70mm f/2.8D IF-ED lens has been my go to lens for years… It’s taken all kinds of abuse and just keeps ticking.  It’s no longer for sale and has been replaced by Nikon’s New AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED Autofocus Lens.   I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Swift River, Along the Kanc

Now’s the time to start thinking about the and taking a (My) Fall New Hampshire Fall Colors Workshop!

Here’s one from last fall: “Swift River, along the Kanc”.  The Kancamagus Highway, also known as “The Kanc,” is a 34.5 mile scenic drive along NH’s Rt. 112 in Northern New Hampshire that is well known as one of the best Fall Foliage viewing areas in the country. The Kancamagus Highway is now designated an American Scenic Byway for its rich history, aesthetic beauty and culture.

The Kancamagus Scenic Byway takes you through a path cut through the White Mountain National Forest with breathtaking views of the White Mountains and Swift River.  Every year, rain or shine leaf peepers show up in full force to drive the Kancamagus Highway just to get a glimpse of the brilliant colored Fall Foliage. Visitors are also greeted with the deep forest smells of the pines and changing leaves, especially on a warm Fall day. Even the rain can offer a unique experience on the Kancamagus Scenic Byway..”
