Cloudy New Hampshire Morning

Cloudy New Hampshire Morning.

One thing to be mindful of when you’re shooting fall colors is, that the colors really POP when it’s wet!  Of course when it’s dark out you’ll need a slower shutter speed, so make sure you always have your tripod with you!

Photographed with my  Nikon D3x and Nikon Zoom AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8, telephoto lens, mounted on my ever faithful Gitzo GT3531 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod and Really Right Stuff BH-55 Pro ballhead.

First Light on the Tetons

Here’s one from the workshop.  Last sunset of my Grand Tetons Photography Workshop.

I was lucky enough to capture a great image of a sunset at Willow Flats Overlook last year…

Silver Cascades Waterfall

I shot this waterfall last October while preparing for my New Hampshire Fall Colors Workshop. Crawford Notch State Park is located along the Saco River in White Mountain National Forest, and is just due south of Mt. Washington, home of “The worst weather on Earth!”.

If you’ve never been to New England, fall’s the time to go, and if you’ve ever wanted to learn photography, my workshop is an excellent way to start!  Visit my site to learn more about this year’s fall workshop and to sign up!

Bear Notch Creek – New Hampshire

I photographed with image while doing reconnaissance for last year’s my New Hampshire Fall Colors Workshop. Bear Notch Road is off the beaten path and is just georgous. I did a fair amount of poking around and found the beautiful little creek.

Photographed with my  Nikon D3x and Nikon Zoom Super Wide Angle AF-S Zoom 17-35mm f/2.8, a great wide angle lens!

Hardwood Forest – Michigan

I feel that this image is a good representation of leading lines, geometric shapes, and light-to-dark transitions in an image.  While there isn’t a particular object/subject for the viewer’s eye to “land” in the image, it still draws the viewer in and captivates the imagination.

I photographed this image early last October using my Nikon D3x and my ever reliable Nikon 28-70 f/2.8 standard zoom lens.  The AF-S Zoom-NIKKOR
28-70mm f/2.8D IF-ED lens has been my go to lens for years… It’s taken all kinds of abuse and just keeps ticking.  It’s no longer for sale and has been replaced by Nikon’s New AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED Autofocus Lens.   I’d love to hear your thoughts.

OId Michigan Cabin in Sepia

I don’t usually process anything in “sepia” tone, but it worked for this image.

I photographed this Cabin in upstate Michigan, early in October 2011.

Swift River, Along the Kanc

Now’s the time to start thinking about the and taking a (My) Fall New Hampshire Fall Colors Workshop!

Here’s one from last fall: “Swift River, along the Kanc”.  The Kancamagus Highway, also known as “The Kanc,” is a 34.5 mile scenic drive along NH’s Rt. 112 in Northern New Hampshire that is well known as one of the best Fall Foliage viewing areas in the country. The Kancamagus Highway is now designated an American Scenic Byway for its rich history, aesthetic beauty and culture.

The Kancamagus Scenic Byway takes you through a path cut through the White Mountain National Forest with breathtaking views of the White Mountains and Swift River.  Every year, rain or shine leaf peepers show up in full force to drive the Kancamagus Highway just to get a glimpse of the brilliant colored Fall Foliage. Visitors are also greeted with the deep forest smells of the pines and changing leaves, especially on a warm Fall day. Even the rain can offer a unique experience on the Kancamagus Scenic Byway..”

Sunset at the Malibu Pier

Living in So Cal now, I’m trying to learn the area and create some photographs of the local sights and attractions.  Here’s one from last night…

I photographed this late last evening using my  Nikon D3x and Nikon Zoom Super Wide Angle AF-S Zoom 17-35mm f/2.8, a great wide angle lens.  I also used a Singh-Ray Vari-N-Duo Polarizing Variable ND Filter, at about 4 stops.  I use their “Vari-N-Duo in Thin Ring Mount”, FYI.
